PILSI submits to Kapiti Coast District Council:  Our President, Sean Rush, presented to the Kapiti Coast District Council on the problems with their Coastal Adaptation Programme and the use of hjgh end models for coastal planning.

PILSI submits on Adaptation Inquiry.  PILSI’s submission assesses the climate indicators of importance to New Zealand.  Whilst finding some changes in weather patterns, there is limited evidence for trending changes in climate over the long – term record.  Further, this is supported by the conclusions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

PILSI warns against the use of high-end emission scenarios to predict future climate impacts.

PILSI attends Marsden Point owner’s AGM:  PILSI attended the AGM for Channel Infrastructure Limited, the owner of the Marsden Point refinery.  We proposed, as a matter of public interest, that the Board approve an investigation and report on the circumstances surrounding the closure of the facility for refining operations.  As expected, the proposal was voted down, but PILSI thanks the Board for their warm reception and willingness to engage in ongoing dialogue, particularly in the context of the Government’s Fuel Security review.
